All will cut squarely on pipes within each pipe cutters’ range. Poorly made pipe cutters will spiral on the pipe when cutting - particularly when you cut the larger diameters. Test the pipe cutter on a piece of pipe at the larger end of it’s capacity and see if it cuts a spiral when lightly scoring the pipe with the wheel. All replacement wheels are available. Monument Pipe cutter wheels are correctly heat treated to give maximum cutting life. Badly designed wheels will fracture or bend over at the cutting edge if they are too hard or too soft. 300M can be used as a semi automatic cutter. Comfortable to use and looks more like a steel tape. Tighten down the handle on the pipe. This will dig the wheel into the pipe (not too far – you get used to it). Then rotate the pipe cutter around the pipe and the wheel feeds in automatically. Don’t be afraid that the tool is made of plastic – it is made from an engineering plastic (ABS) but if you look carefully you will see that the load is taken by steel components. A very much undersold product.

AUTOMATIC PIPE CUTTERS (Product Code 15PC AND 22PC)
15PC AND 22PC made from plastic and steel. Don’t be afraid that the tools are made of plastic – they are made from an engineering plastic (ABS) but if you look carefully you will see that the load is taken by steel components. The tools cut in both directions and have a gate that closes on the pipe so that in a really awkward spot it won’t fall off the pipe (eg under floorboards and working at arm’s length). Add an inexpensive Ratchet Handle 15R or 22R for rotating in those really awkward spots.
